Rehab. Reimagined.

Get clean and sober with an uplifting recovery trek along the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain.

Are you looking for a life changing experience but need something different than what traditional rehabs have on offer? We specialize in working with addicts that have not found lasting recovery through traditional channels. If you or your loved one is a chronic relapser, struggling with the concept of a higher power or just caught in an unending cycle of addiction and despair, don’t give up. We can help.

Heal your mind, body and spirit with an immersive experience along a 1,000 year old pilgrimage route. For 30 days, you will eat, sleep and breath a new way of living that takes you into history, 12 step addiction fundamentals and fellowship along the famed Camino de Santiago.

Your life will never be the same.

Our recovery treks take place year round and last for approximately 30 days. By the end of the program, you will have walked more than 500km and will have completed the first 7 steps found in traditional 12 step programs. At the conclusion of the program, you will receive the official completion certificate, a beautiful Latin scroll, for completion of The Camino de Santiago. This is known as the “Compostela”.

With a focus on integrated recovery of mind, body and spirit, our recovery protocol incorporates each of the following on a daily basis:

  • 4-8 hours of moderate physical exercise
  • Guided meditation
  • Journaling
  • Small group 12-step meetings and step studies
  • Writing activities related to identifying your personal pattern of addiction
  • Fresh cuisine based on the Spanish/Mediterranean diet

SMALL GROUP

Recovery

ONE-ON-ONE

Small Groups Trekking Rehab

Our small group recovery treks are a deeply intensive program, unlike anything else available to recovering individuals. Each day is filled from start to finish with prayer, meditation, exercise, writing, history and a group 12 step meeting. Groups are limited in size to ensure that you or your loved one receives individual attention and guidance.

Over the course of the trek, the group recovers as a team, reminding all that they are not alone on this journey of recovery. The recovery coach provides individual guidance for each participant while the group provides encouragement and support along the way.

Participants will be taken through a specific set of writing exercises and group activities to help them identify relapse triggers, behaviors that avoid or deflect personal responsibility and other causes of self-destructive behavior. We focus heavily on individual accountability for recovery – obliterating the “victim” mentality that places blame on others and prevents long-term recovery.

Individual Trekking Rehab

Our one-on-one recovery pilgrimage is similar to the group recovery trek (see details above) with the exception that it is incredibly private and 100% focused on your individual recovery journey. There is no wait time for this program. There are no scheduled departures in advance - we leave as soon as you are ready. The program itself takes 30-40 days to complete, depending on your physical abilities.

For those with social anxiety, public scrutiny or corporate responsibility, the one-on-one program is ideal. Your confidentiality is ensured from start to finish and you will have a personal recovery coach to work on your individual challenges. The purpose is to give you freedom from all outside concerns so that you can focus 100% on your physical, spiritual and mental healing.

The recovery trek itself starts in St. Jean Pied-de-Port (France) and progresses from there. Your recovery coach will work with you to determine the best pace of your trek. The itinerary is dynamic, completely responsive to your individual recovery needs.

Your guide will work with you to complete the Camino all the way to Santiago de Compostela and then onto Finisterra and the Atlantic Ocean if you decide to keep going. Along the way, our guide will lead you through the fundamentals of recovery so that by the time you reach the end of your pilgrimage, you will have a solid foundation to walk forward in recovery, for the rest of your life.

Family and Loved One Meet-Up

For those of us in recovery, it is so important to know that we are not “walking alone”. For this reason, we highly encourage at least one family member or loved one to meet the recovering addict to share the experience and to see the transformation that takes place.

Family/loved one meet-ups take place over 4 days when you reunite in Santiago de Compostela before continuing on together to Finisterra. From there, you can either return home together or travel separately as your plans require.

If you are interested in adding the 4 day extension, please let us know during registration.

Proof Of Admission And Completion

Some participants may need to prove their enrollment in an inpatient treatment program for legal or other administrative reasons. For this reason, each person who begins the journey will be given a certificate of enrollment and each person who completes the journey will be given a certificate of completion.
